Kids Rock the Block

September 23,

5pm - 7pm

Patty Becker has been teaching private music lessons as "Bach2Basics lesson studio" for over 20 years. 4 years ago she started a summer "rock band experience" program for 6 to 12 year olds called BachRock.  It has been a huge success and growing every year. It now includes a winter session as well with 18 to 22 different kids in each session.  The kids work together, rehearsing as a band, then perform a fantastic, high energy public concert to show their stuff.  In March of 2016 they partnered with Oregon Coast Community Action as “kids helping kids” to raise awareness of the homeless youth population in our area.  The kids did an amazing job, raising over $6000 and inspiring ORCCA to start the “5 bridges” program which focuses on homeless teens in 5 counties.  They will continue to be partnered with ORCCA and do our part to end homelessness.

After being part of BachRock, several of the more advanced kids asked if there was any way they could do that type of thing year around.  That is what started the MetroGnomes.  The MetroGnomes are a youth rock band made up of musicians age 10 to 16.  They have been performing year around since 2014 at local events including Relay for Life, Kool Coastal nights, the Clamboree, Bay Area Fun Festival, North Bend's July Jubilee, Charleston Seafood Festival and Octoberfish as well as private functions.  They are a very talented group of kids who work hard as a team to  present a quality show where ever they go and love the chances they've been given to support their community.
